California government?

California is known for passing rediculous laws, they were on the forefront for the "no smoking in public buildings" thing and now they are pushing for "smoke free california" you can't spank your kids in california, you can't smoke in a car with minors in california and now they are outlawing plastic bags in california. California also wants to outlaw minning in their state. this is my question: is there no control on this government why is no one fighting these laws? Is this the way the entire nation is heading? when is enough enough? shouldn't the government back off? isn't it getting to be a bit like communism?
gomanyes562- i know i shouldn't respond to such a rediculous answer but i will anyway: I live in this counrty because I like my ancestors who came here was promissed certain freedoms and a government who lets me live my own life with little or no interferrence.
gomanyes562: and further more it is not the job of your government to control your life.

Not much is gonna change until some people with a lot of money decide that the current system is not benefitting them. Sad, but that's just the way the government works. I haven't heard about the plastic bag thing. Sounds like some small environmentalist group that is just doing that to draw attention. You hear these things and, while California's government is becoming quite restrictive, many of these radical examples are being pushed by small minority groups who have too much money. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, so politics have simply become a contest to see who can "out-squeak" all the other wheels so that the government will cater to a small group's needs, rather than take care of the general public.
