What is the most interesting battle of the Civil War?
I'm doing a report for social studies, and I am on 2 battles of the war Preparedness. What are interesting people I should look? Please reply. I need it very soon.
Wow - good question - and a very difficult choice. Here are my recommendations: 1. Antietam. Single bloodiest day in American history. In the morning phase of the battle in The wheat field (surrounding), in 3 hours, there were 12,000 victims. Let me put this in perspective. Given the population then it would have been comparable that the U.S. military suffered 120,000 casualties in Iraq in 3 hours of fighting. See the significance? lead to the emancipation proclamation Antietam (in freeing slaves in the south) we embark on a path closes, eventually, civil rights (yeah, it took some time with several detours on the way). Or how Georgia on how to TOOMB sharpshooters (400 men) held off the Union troops 15,000 in what is now called Burnside Bridge (lower deck) until they run out of ammunition? Or how to how the civil war almost ended that day - the center line of Lee was completely destroyed. Only 2 guns and about 400 have been demoralized stragglers all that stood between troops Union 20,000 (some free) and CA Lee. But McClellan has decided that he "would not be prudent" to order an advance and the officer in place (trying to find a way to circumvent the orders and still come with the advance) General Israel Richardson was mortally wounded. Or how two units (1st Texas Infantry and a regiment of Massachusetts) have suffered the worst losses in proportion of shares during war in a battle. Or how the sunken road was so full of dead Confederates one observer said then you can walk from one end to other than the intensification on the body and was then known as "Bloody Lane. "2. Shiloh. If there had been no day "2" that Grant will probably never command in the East and Civil War going on another 1-2 years. But you know what - you can choose a dozen battles and find ways to make them interesting.
