Colt See Entire

Bill Polian (Colts Manager) talks about the upcoming season of the defense?

He mentioned the success of the Giants are at the cutting edge passes and how he plans to eventually get some new guys on the line D. Do you think the Colts can eventually turn to free agency? We all know they have no problem at the end of the defensive. Robert Mathis and Dwight Freeney are two beasts! But what about Defensive Tackle? I think what he says is this: He would like to see the Colts have a rush passage is equal to that of the Giants. And he said he would do the same whether to bring new guys in. So I think mabe it is to think of free agency. Polian said the Giants not only a good defensive ends, but their entire defensive line can rush the passer! source: www.colts.com I'm not saying that the guys will leave or release. But mabe it projects to new guys out there on a rotation as the third test pass rushers and run stoppers.

You see, the Giants used three or four defensive ends in the nickel and training often - so they have four rushers good going on there passing downs. It's not really a new thing - many teams do this, do the Giants are simply overloaded with talent at the position currently. I thought the Eagles would have a similar luxury this year - Trent Cole was emerging (And he bust this year), Jevon Kearse back from injury, Howard was solid, and Juqua Thomas is underestimated. Unfortunately, Kearse is old and is more a "freak" and Howard has been consistently falling since the Eagles got. I do not think the Colts have the cap space to bring lots of guys, especially pass rushers (which are usually too expensive). D exceeded their attacks this year, but I would not expect that production next year. None of them are that great. I would look for them to pick up some guys run the mill since the last time they wasted on the D line, it did not work for them (Corey Simon, Booger MacFarland, etc.).
