Why transfer my VHS so quiet?

There seems to be something with my DVD recorder, transfer all my VHS picture quality is acceptable the audio is very quiet for some reason, so even turn the volume to full the sound is barely listenable. To the best of my knowledge this is the case for most of my tapes, some of them can be copied and the sound is okay. Why? I'm playing my tapes video on a Sony VCR SLV-415 Mono, 1991 connected to my DVD recorder via SCART, because it is the only bridge I VCR. This is not the If any entry on the registration of others, say that I am recording Sky. My DVD recorder is a Visitron 5001 ... It all the info I can give. It could be hampered by a mono VCR, and age bands, perhaps?

hello try a new set Cable is also the issue most likely is a bad head on the VCR audio try using a head cleaner to see if the issue is better, but I do not think its the burner
